Phase 1: Set up your wi-fi wireless router - an example of which is on the right - (see How to get connected to the world wide web for instructions). Most online suppliers now offer wireless routers as conventional. When establishing up one, it’s important to offer appropriate protection so that your pc cannot be joined by anyone but you. Guidelines for this should be provided with the wi-fi router, but if in question, seek advice from an professional.

Step 2: Examine that your computer has a built-in wi-fi adaptor (see left). Up-to-date notebooks generally have one, but most personal computer systems do not.   To confirm whether there happens to be built-in adaptor, adhere to these steps:
Built in wireless adaptor
>Click the Start button.
>Right-click Computer.
>Click Properties.
To check if built in wireless adaptor

If it’s your house system, your internet provider will have given you a security password – sometimes it’s printed on a tag attached to the wireless router.   If you will be using the same connection regularly, you can check the box to link instantly.  Available networks
Phase 5: The very first time you get connected to a system, you will be asked to choose whether it’s a house, work or community system.   Warning: Be very careful if you get connected to unsecured wi-fi systems such as wi-fi ‘hotspots’ in community venues. While on them, it’s important not to use websites that require you to enter personal or financial information as other users of the system could get access to these information.

How to Connect Two Wireless Routers Together

The installation is fairly simple, affordable and the best aspect is that your two routers need not have to be from the same producer so, for example, you can quickly link your Linksys (Cisco) wireless router to a wireless router from say Netgear or Belkin.   For example, I am using a 30m lengthy Ethernet wire to link my two routers – one is a Linksys WRT 160N (N based) and other one is a WRH54G (G based) and the installation performs just ideal.

How to Connect One Router to Another

For this example, let us believe that you have an OLD_ROUTER and a NEW_ROUTER.
Step 1: Create sure your old wi-fi router is operating.
1.Connect the High speed internet device to your OLD_ROUTER’s Online (WAN) slot. Then link the pc to one of the four available slots on your wi-fi router through an Ethernet wire.

2.Make sure that the Online access is operating on your pc and on your wi-fi devices.
Step 2: Configure your new router
Most routers have an IP deal with of 192.168.1.1 so before you link them, you need to make sure that they have been allocated two different IP details.
Follow these step-by-step instructions to connect to wifi -

Shut down your OLD_ROUTER and the device. Also remove the Ethernet wire from the pc.
Plug the Ethernet wire into any of the designated slots of NEW_ROUTER and link the other end to your pc. Modify on the NEW_ROUTER.
Access the web dash panel of NEW_ROUTER (192.168.1.1) and modify the regional IP deal with to something like 192.168.2.1 so that there is no issue with the old wireless router. Preserve the changes.

Test the SSID name of the new wireless router and create sure it’s different from the old wireless router. Also create sure that SSID transmitted is switched on. Preserve the changes.
